It wasn't intentionally so, but i found it rather strange.
Before i talk about the "homophobic" part of the test, i'll let you know that it went fine.
There were some tough parts, easier parts, but overall a fair exam.
I didn't feel nervous up until around the hour before it started but once i sat at my desk (single file, in one line) i was ok.
Waiting is the worst.
So, i should talk about what i discovered in the paper.
In one part of the paper, there was a section where we had to tick 3 columns, labelled A-G.
(See where this is going? :P)
My answers, in alphabetical order were A-F-G
But the order i wrote them in was F-A-G
I only realised after i ticked it and i had to do a double-take lol.
To be honest, i found it rather humourous and who knows, they might not even be the correct answers, i doubt the examiners are anti-gay.
Wasn't the only homophobic thing that passed me today.
Yep, Steven....
I'm getting quite fed up with him.
Not just his homophobic nature but his attitude to racism and other general things too. If he keeps it up, he wont get far in life.
At this moment in time, i am actually quite looking forward to seeing him leave after Christmas.
Harsh?
I dunno.
But today he was on Alan's back (behind his back too) and i stood up for Alan.
Alan owed me some money from something a few days ago and he gave me 10p extra by mistake, to which i commented on to Steven.
I said "Oh there you go, Alan gave me ten extra pence...."
Steve "Coz he's gay"
"Excuse me?"
"Yeh, he is have you not seen the way he sits and talks"
(Which by the way is no different to anyone else)
"No, i haven't....how can you just assume he is?"
"Just....how he is, he's a big bummer and you're standing up for him"
"Listen, im just saying that you can't go around assuming someone might be gay when you have no idea if they are or not. Just coz he doesn't talk about girls doesn't mean anything"
"Look at you standing up for the gays"
By this point i got the feeling that things were heading into deep and dark territories so i left it there.
He called me a poof and i told him to fuck off.
I was extremely pissed off with Steven but happy with myself that i was able to stand up for Alan. It would seem now, that i am not the only one who has suspicions that he might be gay. However, as i said, he acts no differently to anyone else, doesn't sit differently or anything. I just have a feeling about him, but also, i, unlike Steven, don't take the assumption that he is gay.
After all, assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups....
But at least after this coming together between me and Steven i received some good news in the form of my other maths result.
It wasn't as impressive as my previous 86% but still respectable, for my standards anyway.
It was a non-calculator paper and i got 18/30, which is 60%
On the two calculator papers my combined score was 43/50, which is 86%
So overall that works out as 61/80 and 76%
Category - A
One word.
Chuffed.
In the past 8 weeks i have gone from 40% to 76%.
These extra classes have had their comeuppence without a doubt, if only my maths teacher could see me now, sitting on an A a few weeks before the final exam.
She would hit the roof.
I hope i see her again before the exam comes around, apparently she's ill at the moment.
Who knows, she might have got wind of my mark and tht made her violently sick lol.
Aah, it's been yet another long and strenuous day and i just wanna retire to my bed now, fairly happy, might i add.
Cheers guys,
Rowan
In a good mood so tht means a Queen song is getting posted.
I know i say this a lot, but this is one of my favourite Queen songs. It isn't that well known i don't think but it has to at least be in my top 3.
Hey guys, I have a new blogger to introduce. (I love doing this :P)
His name is DJ. He is a good friend of mine and JJ's, we talk with him on msn quite a bit and now he has decided to make a blog and why not? I hope he can make more friends and meet some cool new people on here too.
He's new to blogging and from what i gather, a tad nervous about it so head on over and make him feel at home :)
http://planetofdj.blogspot.com/
Right, i am lying a little, Mondays are never "Fundays" but yesterday was probably one of the best Mondays i've ever had, definetely the best of the year so far.
As usual, i was hit with Sunday Sleep Syndrome but it didn't really affect me an awful lot when i got up.
So, what made it so good?
Well, the answer to that is down to various test results i received.
I didn't have any to receive in music but we went over a listening paper and i scored quite high marks.
But now the test results.
*drum roll*
I got a pretty good mark in a media test, it was analysing the film "The Untouchables" and i got 31/40 so i was pretty happy with that.
Next, English.
Last week we did two essays and i had a feeling a performed better in my first essay than my second one. Boy, was i wrong.
My first essay, Jekyll and Hyde, got a fairly repectable 18/25.
That's still in the "A" category. Anything 18 and above on an essay and i'll settle quite happily for it.
But i was blown away with my second essay....
23/25
My highest mark ever on an essay and one of the highest in the class (exception of Alan who scored the first ever 25/25 :P)
I was so chuffed, i couldn't quite believe it.
But it only added to the awesome maths score i received earlier in the day.
We still don't have our normal teacher back but when the other teacher handed the paper belonging to the guy behind me (who is also no whizz at maths) i heard a "whoop"
He got 90%
It increased my nerves but i still felt confident that i passed and yes i did.
86%
One of my highest marks ever in maths.
Now, this is for the two calculator papers combined, its not my final mark but it is 43/50 so far. The full thing is out of 80.
My non-calculator result still hasn't been returned although ive been told i have passed.
I'm desperate for that mark tho and ive been chasing various teachers for it to no avail. I might get it tomorrow, i can speak to my head of year about it.
My bliss didn't continue into today however, it was cut short by my biology mark - 36%
Very poor indeed, i know.
But, i think, (and i hope) that if i can turn maths around, i can do so with biology. I have 4 weeks to save it and i will try my best to.
I still don't know how certain i am with maths, these extra classes have been helping tho without a doubt. I am glad to see they are paying off.
For now, my attention is turned to my music exam tomorrow. I feel quietly confident about it, i have been answering questions well in class and i am familiar with a good amount of the concepts.
I am better with practical music but i am definetely not going to fail the subject. I did really good in the practical a few weeks back and the theory and listening exam tomorrow will hopefully just boost my mark.
An "A" would be wonderful, i would be content with a 'B" however.
It's at 2pm British time btw, in case you were wondering and only lasts 45 minutes.
Anyhoo, im going to leave it there for now.
This whole post has been about school and tests so im sorry if it was a little dry, just like to keep updated ;)
And, of course, i will post about the music exam tomorrow.
Need to get some sleep now, to be in the right frame of mind for my first ever written exam....
Or so it seems today was, it has completely flown by, i dunno where it's gone!
Loads of things happened. (So settle in for a long post :D)
I'm only getting on my computer properly as i type this out at quarter to midnight, i certainly was kept busy and i didn't quite plan to be actually.
The morning wasn't particularly crazy, i had to go back to Saturday morning maths, not very exciting and because of it i never got to wish my mum happy birthday before i went out the door.
As for the class itself, it was pretty ok. I sat next to the same guy i did last time but didn't talk nearly as much coz the teacher was going over some of the stuff i was really stuck on so i had to pay attention, and i did. Learnt some stuff and i definetely think it benefitted me today. Also, i didn't get my test result back, as i was expecting, but i was told that i passed the test (which i sat before Easter holidays) so that was really good news. I at least know i've made some sort of improvement in the past few months.
After the class i went home and mum opened all of her cards and other presents and she liked all of them to be honest so that was good. Then my dad decided we give my mum some time to herself so he took me and my brother up to play some golf at the driving range while my mum stayed at home with my sister. The thing with golf is that i'm actually ok (i don't play enough to be great) but what i lack is consistency. Just like today, i was hitting some wonderful shots and then some extremely awful ones, its quite a frustrating game at times but it was good stuff anyway (especially as there was this extremely hot boy a few bays away from me, couldnt concentrate on golf properly :P)
So we got back home and i asked my brother if he wanted to play Rock Band with me, and he wasnt doing anything else. He did, i played drums (on expert) and he played guitar (on medium :P)
But it was good anyway, we had a great laugh and we completed some songs that i cant do on single player as i would have failed out.
Anyway, it was good teamwork at the end of the day and i was happy that we worked as a team and had fun too.
We were then summoned away as we went out for a meal for my mum's birthday. Now. My mum and dad are very good at cooking (my dad used to be a chef) so wherever we go, they are always so critical of the restaraunts lol. It's quite awkward sometimes. Today's biggest problems were the prawns, the staff's attitude and the general feel of the place.
I didn't think it was bad but my dad used to work in a big kitchen in a restaraunt in London so i suppose he has the right to be critical, but, however it does get a little annoying. Even the slightest thing and my dad could complain. I don't recall a time in the past few meals we have went out for when he hasn't complained to the manager lmao. He would probably have a field day at MacDonalds!
In the end, it was decided that we wouldn't be returning again, ho hum, but mum enjoyed her meal anyway which is whats important.
She wasn't her usual quiet birthday self, she was quite cheery today.
So when i got home....again, out of nowhere, one of my mum and dad's best friends showed up. I didn't know he was coming although i think they did. He's a great guy, he's my sister's godfather and he is very entertaining. He came round about 8pm after we got home from our meal and we all played games and stuff, he even tried his hand on the Wii which was quite funny. He then remembered Borat was on tv and so everyone ended up watching that. Yep, i watched Borat with my parents lol. Awkward much?
It's a very rude but funny movie.
It finished not long ago and now here i am. Didn't quite have my evening go the way i thought and the day has just whizzed by. Thought i might have been on my computer a good few hours ago but then my mum and dad's friend arrived, which was cool coz he's a great guy but i think i might have prefered he didn't....this evening anyway.
And tomorrow i will get my long overdue lie-in. I have not had one for about two weeks and i am in desperate need now :P
I was thinking i might have some things come for me in the post but no post on Sundays :(
I ordered a Muse and Kasabian poster last night coz i dont actually own any (gasp!) as well as two Muse albums, "Absolution" and "Origin of Symmetry". I have every single Muse song on my iTunes but i do not posses all their albums (blasphemy!) so hopefully they will arrive next week at some point. That's right, paying for music i can already listen to....it is my duty as a hardcore fan to own all albums! :P
Well, that about wraps up this post, its been quite a long one.
I've talked about a load of stuff so don't worry about trying to comment on all of it, but feel free if you have the time.
Really tired now, so off i got to bed :)
Cheers guys,
Rowan
Instead of posting a music video this time, i'm gonna post something a little different.
There is a comedy program on Britain's Channel 4 right now called Facejacker and it's pretty funny, my brother and i watch it, It's about one guy who plays every single character in the show, "hijacking" faces and personalities and going around in public doing all sorts of strange things.
Anyhoo, this sketch is an "art critic" going to view art, unbeknowest to the owner that he is not an art critic and is just a guy in disguise who has no clue about art at all. He has a speech impediment where everything he says ends up starting with the letter 'B' . It's hilarious and me and my brother can't stop quoting all the things he says.
I hope you all find this funny, although i anticipate it won't be to everybody's taste. Sorry if you dont like it, but i don't know how you can't kill youself laughing at this....
(You might want to turn the volume up a little, its' a bit quiet)
Eugh, Thursday's are always the worst day of the week. Today was no different.
I i think the reason they are horrible is coz it is a 7 period day with the worst combination of subjects.
I almost missed the bus this morning but caught it just in time. Maybe would have been better if i missed it coz the following happened in school today :
I lost my jacket which had money in it.
I still haven't got my maths result back yet
I completely fucked up a biology test.
Now the jacket, i think i know where it is. I left it in the dining hall today from what i remember so hopefully i will be able to retrieve it tomorrow. The worst thing was i had to walk home from the bus whithout my jacket, in the rain. The bus stop is only 4 or 5 minutes from my house but that was enough time to get me absolutely drenched so that didn't help add to events previous to this today.
Such as, my whole class has recieved their non-calculator test result back but i haven't yet. It's apparently sitting in the "late" pile coz i did my tests one day after everyone else before the holidays due to me being off one day. I should get the result back on Saturday. Yes, Saturday. The weekend morning maths class returns again....
But the biology was the worst thing. I knew i had the test coming up but ima tell you right now, i do minimal studying for biology. I just cant get any of the stuff into my head. Ive really lost the plot with biology, i would say it has now replaced maths in terms of what i am worst at. Anyway, i sat the thing and guessed at what i would say is about 75% of the questions. There's no doubt about it, i definetely haven't passed.
In a way i'm glad that it is my new worst subject coz at least if i do fail it, i dont have to re-sit the course, like i would with maths which looks like its coming on a little stronger. Of course, i would know that for sure if i could get my bloody results back!
Pppphhhh. This post has been a bit of a downer hasn't it?
I don't really have anything to lighten it up tho really.
Just a few things i will mention :
I'm conducting a little experiment in school at the moment. It's my own little idea and i'll let you know the results in my next post....or i might let it run for another week.
My first exam is in 6 days....
I did two english essays on Monday and Tuesday, i think they went ok but wont know till next week. I also did a french test that went fine.
I have a spanish test and media test tomorrow too. SO MANY TESTS!!!
There is just no rest at the moment, i want the weekend to come but i dont want it to come. I'm not looking forward to this other extra maths class but i am looking forward to going out to a meal on Saturday coz it's my mum's birthday. We're all going.
My mum sometimes acts a little strange around her birthday tho. She shares the same birthday as her mum (my gran) who has passed away now and i don't think she likes to make a big deal out of her birthday but hopefully she will enjoy it this time round. My dad got her some really nice jewellery too and me and my brother are gonna get her a nice card and probably something else.
But for now it's busy, busy, busy, worky, worky, worky, testy, testy, testy (in the words of biology) :P
Returning to school once again (not prison, although it can be quite similar sometimes :P)
But this time i have a real reason to actually dread it. This term sees the start of my exams, not piddly, little exams but big, important ones.
And the first one?
Music Listening - Next Wednesday.
So there you go. I do have a right to moan about going back hehe.
Not only do i have that next week but this week is full as well.
I did an (unseen) english essay today which thankfully went quite well i think but part 2 is tomorrow.
Also, i have a biology test on Thursday and a spanish and media test on friday so my only testless day is Wednesday....
However, i don't feel overly stressed surprisingly, although i know that will change in the coming weeks. It's inevitable really.
So today was actually quite a strange day. There were quite a few teachers not in due to being stuck abroad.
This whole Iceland volcano ash thing.
My maths teacher wasnt in so i didn't get to finish the test i started before the holidays. Ho hum.
The guy i sit beside in biology, who is Chinese, went to Hong Kong over the holidays and promised to bring me back Hong Kong mentos, which he did, i forgot about it to be honest so it was a nice surprise. Although the packaging is exactly the same, he gave me the receipt which was in....Hong Kongenese?
Lol, i dunno but it was cool he got them (im sucking on them right now :P)
We always share our mentos in biology, i dunno why, its just a thing we have lol.
The lunch time discussion at our table was rather interesting. It involved an incident that happened on Saturday which i wont go into too much detail about.
Basically, i went to play footbll with some friends, lost money, it then got found and nobody believed it was mine so i never got it back, it was instead spent on somebody elses MacDonalds.
So that was the topic of conversation at lunch but i couldn't really care. It was only 5 pounds (although i was quite pissed off at the time) but its not as if i will never have another 5 pounds again, a few people were insistent upon talking about it so i just tried to blank them and talk to Alan, who actually was really nice to me on Saturday.
After it all kicked off i decided i didn't want to waste my time with those "friends" who wouldnt believe the money was mine so i went home.
I went on the Xbox and a few hours later Alan appeared and asked me if i was ok which was really sweet of him.
He's the only one of the dozen or so people there who asked me.
Anyhoo, it wasn't a super first day back (wasnt ever going to be) but when i got home something really cheered me up.
Over the weekend i was looking at this app on the iPod called Remote which simply allows you to connect your iPod to your iTunes through wi-fi but i couldn't get it working.
But when i got home i tried downloading and installing a different "cracked" app (forgive me, im broke :P)
and i got it working :D
So i'll post below one of the songs on the album im listening to right now.
Lastly, i just wanted to say about how my postings might work for the next while. Don't be worry, i know JJ and my cousin Lauren have said they may be posting less often for the next while while but im not gonna tell you im doing the same.
I'm not gonna stick to a routine of posts or say i'll only post once a week or something coz i probably wouldn't end up sticking to it. If there's stuff to talk about, i'll talk about it!
So really, just in case i do get too busy for the next month and a bit, i apologise for a potential lack of posts, athough i will try my best not to let that happen. I love blogging and talking to people on here and i am not gonna let crappy school stand in the way of that.
School is gonna be a lot tougher from here on in but i think that as long as i have support and encouragement (which i cant thank you guys enough for already!) i can get through this successfully, which is why i will try my best to post as i normally do :)
Cheers guys,
Rowan
Right so, i was going to post a song off the album im listening to right now (Metallica's Master of Puppets) but there is a much more fitting song for this post that i just need to use so here's some Pink Floyd.
Bet you're happy i posted that instead of Metallica! lol
I'm 19 years old and am a raging homosexual... yes I'm gay :P
This blog is simply where i can throw down thoughts, musings, frustrations... comical genius... (?) But through this blog I also hope to help anyone who is scared, confused, unsure or in need of some place to feel better about themselves :)
