Top 100 Songs of 2010

(as according to iTunes)

Over the past couple of days, ive been going over this post and making sure it reads properly as ive been working out my most played 100 songs of 2010. Im doing it really coz i love my music - personally, i think the world would be dead without music and honestly, i consider it as very important in my life -  so i like making little lists like the one below.

This is only according to iTunes tho, which is not the only place i listen to music so it isnt entirely accurate, but its the nearest thing to it i suppose. iTunes always has little hitches and glitches that alters final readings, too, so throughout a year, things can get messed up.
Also, the fact that only 7 different bands appears on the whole list is probably because when i like a band... i REALLY like a band :P
Oh yeah, my collection of cds has grown throughout the year so not every song on my iTunes has been there from the start. Bands like The Beatles, White Stripes, Rage, Klaxons, System of a Down arent really on the list coz they're a few of many bands ive started listening to this year.

^The above was a precaution before everyone says i listen to Muse too much :P
I havent actually listened to them much recently tbh but as a warning, there will be a lot of songs on this list you've probably never heard of but how and ever here it is, starting at 100 -

Happy Birthday, Farrokh Bulsara!

"Who?" You may be saying...

"Rings a bell" others might say...

"Freddie Mercury" is what those of you who love Queen will be screaming!

Yes, Freddie Mercury was born today (5th September) in 1946, would you believe?

In the country of Zanzibar, would you also believe?

In my opinion, this man was the greatest entertainer ever and I seriously doubt many will come close to equalling Freddy on the stage. (As i type, i am listening to Queen Live at Wembley, 1986, which i have never heard all the way through! :O)

Anyway, the way Freddie wrote songs, and sang and performed is just enough to take you're breath away, plus he was gay and in the 80's, i can imagine that was very tough. Tragically, he died of complications with AIDS in 1991, so i've never been alive at the same time as him :(

But the countless concerts that are available to buy make me feel not so sad. I can still view his greatness and so can you.

I've seen various clips from their famous Wembley show but this following clip just amazes me. It's Under Pressure (a great song) but i post it more for the reason of the back and forth singing between Freddie and the audience. Imagine being in the crowd on this day! Would have been quite something...

Happy 64th birthday, Freddie, you're a legend and an inspiration to many, inlcuding myself!

I'm going to be in that stadium in 6 days time ^^

What Lies Ahead?

Well, i know it's only been 9 days since my last post but I feel as if I should make another, simply for the reason that school returns tomorrow and I thought I would give the lowdown on what I know is going to happen and what isn't.

Of course, one can never predict the future but I know for sure this year is going to be tough, if not tougher, than last year.
I am studying less subjects, yes, but with that comes a heavier workload of which I am sure to feel the brunt of in the coming months.

Anyway, not just school drama this year, but other drama.

Muse at Wembley in less than 4 weeks with Steven and his dad. Ought to be interesting but hopefully enjoyable at the same time. I will also be on a plane on September 11th which is quite a scary thought tbh O_O
Im kinda stressing about tickets coz they haven't been delivered yet but i'm sure they will eventually.

September will be an interesting month. Not only seeing Muse but I have signed up for something called EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance) which means I will recive money for attending school. It is delivered on a weekly basis but only if you have 100% attendance for that week. One absence and you get nada which is a nuisance - my attendance is hardly ever 100% so i doubt i will get it weekly. We shall soon see.
It does just add extra pressure i suppose but hey, money for going to school!

October should be a kinda average month but around November and Christmas will be busy. Schoolwork always intensifies, and there are a few other events taking place around this period.

But Christmas will be a reward for me: Steven is leaving school.

I shouldn't be delusional that he will be gone from my life but he will be missing from a major part of it. After all, there's still that bastard thing called the internet that he can use to contact me :/

Piece o' shit...

He's going to a music course at some crap college btw, which i find hilarious coz he has no musical knowledge at all. He likes to think he does, but he doesn't. He "plays" guitar too. I use the term "play" lightly...

He's awful.

Best of luck with that college course mate! lol

And then after Christmas there's more Prelims/Exams/BS etc. etc.

As for this summer. Well, at least i can't complain that it was uneventful at least...

My breakdown is this :

Spectacular start. Miserable middle. Tepid termination. (or in other words, utterly boring finale)

Meh. Not a summer to remember.

Oh i forgot i was betrayed by my cousin (for the 2nd time, btw) as well, at the start...

Betrayed by two people in one month! Wow, im good!

Anyway, things are drib-drab right now. Not much to post about so this hiatus really is working well. Regarding a date for my "return" ... i don't know. Maybe i'll just post a few times a month or something, just felt like the blog was owed a post today, and it's also it's 150th. So yeh...

Forgot about that Queen poll so here are the two joint songs that won but you probably wont listen coz they're way overplayed. Here's a live version instead.

Cheers,
Rowan

Holiday Part 5 - Life's a Beach

In light of all the drama round here at the moment, i'm continuing to post about my holiday :)

---------------------------------------------------------------

This post begins on Sunday 4th July.

We got up, farted about for a bit and headed to our favourite, new Scottish bar for a good ol' British breakfast, which went down very well.

We took the bikes and worked off breakfast on our cycle to our favourite beach area of the island which was about 2 miles away.

We came across it last time we were in Lanzarote and if we ever go again, im sure we will return.

It's a nice little secluded place and doesn't get too busy  -

Bet i looked like a right perv taking that photo :P

We brought lilos with us and we rode the waves on them, that was the highlight for me, im not a big sandcastle fan. Also, laying around in the sun was awesome but had its consequences, i thought i had applied enough sun cream but obviously not as i found out afterwards.

Oh and I was left cursing my lack of knowledge in the Spanish language department when 4 boys (clearly Spanish) wearing just shorts showed up and started kicking a football around.
That irked me, need to stick in with my languages...

When it was time to leave i soon found where i was sunburnt :/

Get this, the tops of my feet are where i got it worst. My back had random red areas and so did my chest, leaving me looking like a red cow on later inspection.

Cycling back was ok, it hadnt affected me too badly yet but we got back to our apartment and i dived into the pool to try and cool the burns.

It was soothing for a while but i should never have agreed to cycle down to airport where you can watch planes fly over your head by only a handful of metres.

A special video for you -

Yes, that is me laughing ^__^

Well, ok, maybe the pain was worth it but the rest was bad... sorta... not really.

We went to an Italian restaraunt and got a MEGA spicy pizza. *licks lips*

Delicioso.

Oh, and i swear two of the waiters were gay! They kept looking at each other with a sly smile that said "i cant wait till we close up here tonight"

They were really hospitable too tho, so that was enjoyed immensely.

I hated having to leave, pushing myself as far as i could on the bike, through the pain on the tops of my feet. But strangely, when we got back to the apartment, i pretty much feel asleep right away... somehow.

The next two days were the worst of the holiday, and perhaps two of the worst of any holiday.

Monday consisted of doing nothing - I couldn't walk. I couldn't lie comfortably. I just had to sit in the shade and watch everyone else in the pool. I also started feeling very lonesome coz i still knew nobody around the place. The folks from Liverpool had gone home, so i didn't even have them to talk to.

Take it from me, sunburn can ruin a holiday.

So, when you're feeling sore and down in the dumps what do you do?

You drink.

And i did, but only coz it was free! Don't get too upset. I didn't get drunk that day... that happened the next day, on the Tuesday :D

It's the only time i've ever been drunk and i wasnt even proper drunk.

But Tuesday was still a bad *day*... day

Still feeling sore and lonely, i also lost some money and received some bad news when i braved the complex's computers. I just wanted to be home and nowhere else, regardless of the weather.

I trudged along to watch Uruguay vs Holland in the bar, mum got me a beer (the first of quite a few) and headed off for a while.

What do you do in a bar full of guys when there is football on? You talk about football! And luckily enough, the guy i plonked myself beside, at random, was a Liverpool fan! Woot \o/

John must have been in his 40's but he was lovely, he was hilarious and we had a great chat, barely any football was watched. But this is where my fortunes changed. At half time, an older guy and a boy my age sat down near us - they were obviosuly father and son -  but I didn't think much of it coz I was talking with John and a few of his friends (great names btw - Antoinito and Angelo)

However, slowly but surely we all got talking (about football) and found they were from a place in England called Coventry.

The second half started and John's mate Angelo ordered one too many beers by accident, he didnt even intend to get me one in the first place but i ended up with two :D

Then mum came back O_O

Angelo was rather worried lol but i finished one, i told mum the other was the same beer she got me earlier lmao

...and she believed it!!!

I finished it and she got me another!

That's when i started to feel it. Getting dizzy and not being able to focus properly. Walking from one end of the bar to the toilet was quite a challenge :P

But anyway, the father and son i was talking about earlier. The mum of the family came back and got talking to my mum and all of us ended up sitting in the bar way past the football. It was just great. Beer was flowing, so was the conversation, no pain in my feet, or back, or chest, and i got talking to someone my age for once!

He was called Ross, and his dad was Mark. Really nice people. We arranged to play water polo in the complex's main pool the next day. Apparently, it was on everyday, but due to sitting at our pool, i didn't know about this.

We said our goodbyes and i felt happy with how the evening went. The night was a complete opposite of my day. I knew people now!

And in that knowledge, i staggered off to the apartment, played some cards and feel right asleep, a happy *half*-drunk.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Please don't criticise me for getting drunk :P (or half drunk)

It was once and it happened on holiday, it is not a regular occurance :)

Anyhoo, Queen poll is up, vote for your favourite track off "News of the World" It's multiple choice so my votes go to Sheer Heart Attack, Spread Your Wings, Get Down, Make Love, and All Dead, All Dead. I have to pick 4 coz the album is so good!

More to follow soon...

Hugs,
Rowan

And just coz i had sunburn, here is a little song called Sunburn, even though it has nothing to do with it.

JJ & DJ

Well, bugger me, it sure has been dramatic round here recently hasn't it?

...and not for the best either.

As I'm sure you are aware, JJ's blog has magically disappeared into the middle of the night for real this time (I remember posting about JJ threatning to close his blog before) and DJ has also closed his.

Now, I'm certain I speak for all of us when I say I am saddened by this twist of events but that's just one of the many things I feel right now.

You see, I don't receive many emails outwith notifications for blog comments but I seem to be the first port of call for many when something happens to JJ but now also DJ.

Fair enough, I say, naturally concerned and it's nice to see. However I've received numerous emails as of late asking what is going, if I know what is going, if the world is coming to an end...

It's not that I don't want to reply to each email individually but I feel it would just be easier to make a big post.

So what can I tell you?

Well, JJ has not been in contact with me for a few days so I don't know anything definite. It would appear to me that he is gone but for all I know he could show back up in comments or something.
However, my gut tells me he won't and I truthfully don't see his blog returning.
I've also not tried to contact him and truth be told, I don't really want to try either, I don't feel as if I would get a reply back.

As for DJ, well I have been in contact with him. He is ok. He is quite shaken up by everything though and that is probably why he has closed his blog. He didn't like the way things were going, so to stop that he closed his blog.
Who can argue with that?

Also, creepy comments were not a factor in why DJ left. Above is why he left.

DJ may return one day, that is his own decision but for the forseeable future he won't be around I don't think.

I don't really know what else to say, my head is swimming due to the ongoing events. I don't know all the answers and I don't see the answers being uncovered but if there's anything you can think of asking me or anything else you desparately want to know then ask in a comment and I will try to reply back in the comments section. So, subscribe to the comments bit.

Hugs,
Rowan

P.S I'm glad Billy Connolly seemed to go down quite well :)

P.P.S News of the World won the Queen album vote so my next poll will be "What is your favourite track off News of the World"

I can't really say I have a favourite but here is Spread Your Wings

June is Here, Yes!

This is going to be quite some month if all goes the way it should, particularly the end of the month which i will have to wait for unfortunately but it will be all worth it when the time comes.

The only bad thing about this month is the Spanish exam on Friday but it shouldn't be any hassle at all.
I'm back to school on Monday, which doesn't really bother me, i want to get back talking to people and friends again, it can feel rather isolated during the holidays sometimes. Also, when i return i will be in different classes so i will have a whole new timetable etc. so i look forward to finding all that out. I only have three weeks of that tho, coz this month also sees the end of the school year! Yay!

Anyhoo, then end of the month (plus a few family members birthdays in between) is what really shapes this month.
One of my cousin's is going to be 21 this month and the weekend on or after her birthday, me and the rest of my family will be travelling to London to surprise her. At first, it only was going to be us, but now it looks like it is going to be a massive family reunion :D
Lauren and her parents are going (well i hope both parents :P), my cousins who live in France and their parents will be going, other cousins in London will be there too, and lastly, my aunt and uncle who live in California are making their way across the pond to visit us. We only just received that news a few days ago so it really has turned into a big get-together and i seriously can't wait!

I remember one of my other cousin's 21st, or maybe 18th birthday that we also went to London for (a surprise again) and that was great, albeit a few years ago now and wasn't as big as this one looks to be. I got some beer too, so if that was a few years ago....*shifty*....maybe there will be more this time!
J/k

So the end of the month is what i view as like a big reward for these crappy past couple of months (in terms of school, that is). All aunts, uncles and cousins are set to be there and the last big reunion was March 2007, so it's been a long time, and also, from what i remember, the first reunion that doesn't involve the death of somebody....the last two were when my gran passed away then grandad.
I'm not a big believer in heaven and all that but i still think that when the dead move on they are watching over us in a way, so i am sure gran and grandad would be really happy to see everyone get together and have a fantastic time.

Also, this month has already got off to a good start and it's only 12 hours new. On Rhyn's blog, his most recent post was about him finding some pictures he came across at an anime convention he was was recently at. He got pictures for a few different people and i am lucky enough to be one of those and just there is the one he got me which i really like, so i thought i would share it on here too.

I really like it and i think it was really thoughful so i just want to say thanks to Rhyn and that i will print it off for now, maybe one day i can get my hands on the original copy, that would be great.

Hope you all have a great June!

Hugs,
Rowan

The Homophobic Music Exam and Other Daily Doings

Intrigued?

:P

It wasn't intentionally so, but i found it rather strange.

Before i talk about the "homophobic" part of the test, i'll let you know that it went fine.
There were some tough parts, easier parts, but overall a fair exam.
I didn't feel nervous up until around the hour before it started but once i sat at my desk (single file, in one line) i was ok.

Waiting is the worst.

So, i should talk about what i discovered in the paper.
In one part of the paper, there was a section where we had to tick 3 columns, labelled A-G.

(See where this is going? :P)

My answers, in alphabetical order were A-F-G
But the order i wrote them in was F-A-G

I only realised after i ticked it and i had to do a double-take lol.
To be honest, i found it rather humourous and who knows, they might not even be the correct answers, i doubt the examiners are anti-gay.

Wasn't the only homophobic thing that passed me today.
Yep, Steven....

I'm getting quite fed up with him.
Not just his homophobic nature but his attitude to racism and other general things too. If he keeps it up, he wont get far in life.
At this moment in time, i am actually quite looking forward to seeing him leave after Christmas.
Harsh?
I dunno.

But today he was on Alan's back (behind his back too) and i stood up for Alan.
Alan owed me some money from something a few days ago and he gave me 10p extra by mistake, to which i commented on to Steven.

I said "Oh there you go, Alan gave me ten extra pence...."

Steve "Coz he's gay"

"Excuse me?"

"Yeh, he is have you not seen the way he sits and talks"
(Which by the way is no different to anyone else)

"No, i haven't....how can you just assume he is?"

"Just....how he is, he's a big bummer and you're standing up for him"

"Listen, im just saying that you can't go around assuming someone might be gay when you have no idea if they are or not. Just coz he doesn't talk about girls doesn't mean anything"

"Look at you standing up for the gays"

By this point i got the feeling that things were heading into deep and dark territories so i left it there.

He called me a poof and i told him to fuck off.

I was extremely pissed off with Steven but happy with myself that i was able to stand up for Alan. It would seem now, that i am not the only one who has suspicions that he might be gay. However, as i said, he acts no differently to anyone else, doesn't sit differently or anything. I just have a feeling about him, but also, i, unlike Steven, don't take the assumption that he is gay.
After all, assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups....

But at least after this coming together between me and Steven i received some good news in the form of my other maths result.
It wasn't as impressive as my previous 86% but still respectable, for my standards anyway.

It was a non-calculator paper and i got 18/30, which is 60%
On the two calculator papers my combined score was 43/50, which is 86%

So overall that works out as 61/80 and 76%

Category - A

One word.

Chuffed.

In the past 8 weeks i have gone from 40% to 76%.
These extra classes have had their comeuppence without a doubt, if only my maths teacher could see me now, sitting on an A a few weeks before the final exam.
She would hit the roof.
I hope i see her again before the exam comes around, apparently she's ill at the moment.
Who knows, she might have got wind of my mark and tht made her violently sick lol.

Aah, it's been yet another long and strenuous day and i just wanna retire to my bed now, fairly happy, might i add.

Cheers guys,
Rowan

In a good mood so tht means a Queen song is getting posted.
I know i say this a lot, but this is one of my favourite Queen songs. It isn't that well known i don't think but it has to at least be in my top 3.

Feel like a millionaire!

Easter School (Eugh.) and Britain's "Gay Capital"

I woke up this morning (somehow) and the first thing i knew was that i had Easter School to go to today.
Not helped by the fact that the rain was extremely heavy and i didn't get to sleep until at least 2am, so i only got about 5 hours sleep. (I swear msn will be the death of me :P)

I quickly jumped in the shower, got out, dried my hair, had some cereal then went out the door. Luckily my dad was on hand to give me a lift but regardless, i was still in a very zombie-like state.

So when i got to school i eventually livened up a bit, there were more people who i get on with who i didn't expect to be there. Alex was there, Louis was there, Steven wasn't haha, actually i have a funny story about him but i'll tell it later on.

My first class was english, and these aren't normal 50-minute lessons, one class lasts the whole morning (9-12) and the other lasts the whole afternoon (12:30-15:30)
Good thing i got to sit beside Alex, but it was also quite a handy lesson.
The teacher went over the best ways to answer questions from an unseen passage and, admittedly, i did find it quite useful.
One point we were talking about a journalist describing George Bush as a political dinosaur (as you do), then she put me on the spot and asked me another way to describe a dinosaur and i just blurted out "Prehistoric animal" without even thinking....
Got a well done from her and a few nods of approval from other people lol, i was quite chuffed with that :)
Not much else to mention about english tho, was rather uneventful apart from that.

At lunch, i just made a quick trip to cafe as there wasn't enough time to go to the shops on the main road and i returned for 3 hours of maths, what fun....

Sat beside Alex again this time, as well as Louis.
It was quite a good lesson too, the more maths i do, the more i will learn obviously, and therefore increase my mark in the final exam here's hoping.

Overall, Easter School was quite a good thing i think. I'll be back in tomorrow for modern studies in the morning and biology i think next monday afternoon.

But with today's lessons all done with, the only thing left to do was return home so Alex, Alan (the cutie :D) and i got the train home.
Alan had to get off early :(
Me and Alex got off the next stop which is actually one stop before mine but i wasn't gonna let Alex walk home in the rain by himself of course.

So i got drenched. But it was worth it, we stopped caring about the weather and just started laughing about what's been happening with Steven and a three-legged dog we seen being walked in the street lol, which then moved onto a conversation about a no-legged dog being transported around on a skateboard lmao, ahhh good times.
We parted ways tho, still laughing about Steven.

So here's the story :

For the past few days, Steven has been in Brighton. Brighton is also renowned for being the "gay capital" of Britain.
Steven goes down there with his dad maybe once or twice a year as his grandparents live there.
So anyway, he has been sending me a few texts one saying that the weather was sunny, 27 degrees celcius and another said "English girls are hot and think i'm hot too"
Lol, you wish Steven.
So i thought i would share some of these texts around with a few friends coz i just knew the reception they would get.
And i was right, everybody just laughed lol.
So i sent a text back saying that 27 degrees celcius doesn't exist in Britain, let alone in April.
And he's all "Well my granda's barometer is really accurate"
"What? More accurate than the Met Office?"

So everyone was laughing at the crap he was spouting there.
But of course, the main point is Steven and his dad actually being in the so-called "gay capital" of Britain.
Two of the most unlikely people you would think of going there.
And then, before he goes there, being all talk as usual, he's giving it large about how he's gonna go to Brighton and turn everyone straight "the way they should be"
Aye, just get walking.
Pretty glad to see the back of him last week to be honest :P

Wish i had grandparents in Brighton lol, that would be cool.
Funnily enough, one of my cousins goes to university in Brighton....wait a minute....naah, she's got a boyfriend from what i know :P

And speaking of cousins, in a few posts time i have something very cool to mention about when i will be seeing them next, it's gonna be cool!

Love you guys,
Rowan

Brand's Birthday and Mother's Day

I was only told yesterday that today was in fact Brand's birthday.

I knew that a whole group of us were going to play football today, which we did do, but the best i could do for Brand was get him a card and slip some money in it :-/

Would have liked to give him something a bit better but i think he was happy with the card and money.....

Football was really what we all went for though.
We managed to get the big pitch coz Brand pre-booked it a few days ago, so that was really good with loads of space.

After about 2 hours of football we all stopped and had piggyback wars and races :P

We all laughed that we paid so much money for the pitch and now we were using it for piggyback wars lol.

But yeh, 5 teams for the piggyback wars, it was mayhem. Just people falling all about the place.....on top of each other too, on occasion :P

Overall, a good day and as we were leaving Brand's parents said to him that now he is 16 they might let him have a few beers and what not.....
Let's just hope those beers don't become margaritas, eh?

Mothers Day - and Fathers Day for tht matter of fact. I don't get the point, where is Kids day?
KO
"Everyday is kids day" according to my parents.

I got my mum some nice Thornton's chocolates (last box in the shop!) along with a card.
Whenever i write a card i like to add my own messages inside as well.

For this one i was thinking "Love you mum......P.S i'm gay"

:P

I didn't do that lol, she too, seemed to be happy with what she got but two cards and gifts to two different people on the same day....i'm broke!

And i still owe my mum about 15 pounds for paying off Steven's iPod.....

Phhhhhhh.

I don't like owing people money, it sucks.

Ah well, it'll work out.

Anyhoo, i'll stop my rambling to leave you with another Queen song that i absolutely adore. Another one of my favs, it's a groovy little number.

Cheers guys,
Rowan

I wanted to embed the official video but youtube doesn't allow you to :(
